Angel's Landing: Zion National Park

By Ty Ackerman

My girlfriend and I had both just quit our jobs to travel and experience as much of the world as possible in four months. We had both always wanted to experience Zion National Park so we decided to begin the journey there. Angels Landing was one of the first places my girlfriend and hiked to and wow – talk about starting off the trip on a high note! Probably the most intense hike either of us had done. Angels Landing is five miles straight up – there are points of the hike where you are literally holding onto chains while looking over the side of drop offs that are over 1000 feet high! We almost turned back multiple times because of both exhaustion and danger but in the end kept fighting till we reached the top. The peak is unbelievable! Well worth every step – you get a 360-degree view of the entire Zion Canyon! Looking out we both realized that taking chances and unforgettable experiences go hand in hand – and are what life is all about.
